AcuDetox program is an acupuncture-based protocol that is used to treat alcoholism, substance abuse, and chemical dependency with 5 ear (auricular) acupuncture points that are manually stimulated with needle insertion. It is offered as professional development for licensed professionals in the fields of healthcare and social work. The treatment works by releasing natural chemicals in the body that ease the symptoms of withdrawal and help fight addiction.
The program is approved by the Texas medical Board. Upon completion, individuals may apply for certification through the Texas Medical Board for a fee of $52. Additional information concerning maintaining compliance with state and federal AcuDetox regulations can be found here and here.
